ARTETA SAYS ARSENAL WORKING ON NEW ARRIVALS THIS JANUARY

Arsenal fans will be excited about the recent news coming out of the London club after manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that the Gunners will be on the lookout and in the hunt for new players so they can continue the build-up process and get back to where they belong.


Following the unofficial departure of Mesut Özil, the club’s supporters kept raising their eyebrows and asking questions like who they would be signing as the German playmaker’s replacement after ending his nightmare career at Arsenal. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Friday afternoon that Mikel Arteta has finally convinced young midfielder Martin Odegaard to finally make a loan switch to the north side of London from Spanish giants Real Madrid as they continue to rebuild the squad. MIKEL ARTETA IN TRIBUTE TO MARADONA

 

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has paid to the late Diego Armando Maradona who passed away on Wednesday. Argentine Diego Maradona is widely regarded as one of the best players to ever grace the round leather game and tributes have been pouring in for the man who’s also known as D1OS or El Pibe.

Diego Maradona died at the age of 60 after succumbing to cardiac arrest. In his tribute, Mikel Arteta said that Maradona inspired cities wherever he played as described him as a true great.The Arsenal boss confessed that he was a big fan of the 1986 World Cup winner. ARTETA KEEN ON A MIDFIELDER

 

Mikel Arteta is keen on adding a midfielder to the first team before the summer window closes in two weeks, per reports. The Arsenal first team manager – promoted recently from his Head Coach role when he joined in December – has been on the heels of Atletico’s Thomas Partey and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, hoping to land one this summer.


The Gunners have started the season well, beating Fulham 3-0 away and West Ham at home 2-1, off the back of their Community Shield win over Premier League champs Liverpool.

ARSENAL PREPARE TO SELL CAPTAIN AMID COVID19 CRISIS

Arsenal could part ways with club captain and top goalscorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The player and the club have agreed to part ways. The player told the club he will not sign a new deal. Both club and player weigh up their respective options looking ahead, and it has been decided that it is best they go separate ways.


Aubameyang who arrived as a club record signing for the Gunners has less than 18 months on his contract. He arrived just a little over two years ago and has scored 61 goals in fewer than 100 appearances. Still, it is now possible that the relationship between the two is just a short one.

Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha believes contrary to reports that current city coach Pep Guardiola is looking outside for the next experiment, he is more likely to stay put with the Citizens and try to outdo what Liverpool had done this season.


The former Barcelona coach lost Mikel Arteta to Arsenal but he can easily find another person to fill his role and continue with the new challenge at hand: reaching and possibly surpassing the bar Liverpool have raised.

MANCHESTER CITY VS SPURS REVIEW

Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Tottenham in what was perhaps the most unlucky result of the weekend. The Citizens were exceptional on the day blocking Mauricio Pochettino’s men to just three shots on target.

However, Tottenham were clinical and scored two goals out of the Blue which stunned the home fans. Guardiola would have learned some valuable lessons after the game despite the late VAR decision to overturn the goal.

MAHREZ WILL BIDE TIME

Riyad Mahrez, who was the first name of the team sheet at Leicester City, has not got quite the same sort of treatment at his new club Manchester City and that’s understandable too.

Mahrez is an extraordinary talent, there is no doubt about it, but Manchester City has a lot more options at their disposal than Leicester had and considering the kind of form that their first choice wingers have been in, it’s not a huge surprise that Mahrez has not got as much of game time as he would have liked. The 28-year old is however not very pleased with it as per the reports.

CITY LOOKING FINELY TUNED FOR THE QUADRUPLE

Manchester City faceSchalke O4 this evening in the first of two competitions slated for the Blues this week the other the FA Cup clash at Swansea in the weekend. If City are able to come out of the two clashes unscathed this would add more credence to the noise about a potential quadruple.

Pep Guardiola has been quick to downplay any notion about the quadruple but the longer Manchester City continue to win the louder it would grow. The excuse of injuries and the squad being stretched is true to some degrees but Guardiola and his coaching staff which includes Mikel Arteta have been able to manage this excellently.

ARTETA: CITY PLAYERS BEST IN THE WORLD

Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta is of the opinion that the club’s players are the best crop anyone can find in the world at the moment.

Arteta stood in for fellow Spaniard Pep Guardiola when the manager received a touchline ban for City’s Champions League opening game against Olympique Lyonnais in September last year.
